Best Hosting for Divi: GoDaddy vs Kinsta (2021)

By: August Erickson | Published on Feb 18, 2021

In this blog post, I’ll be comparing two of the most popular hosting options for websites built with Divi (GoDaddy and Kinsta) by measuring page speed.

In my opinion, page speed is the most important performance measure, as it DIRECTLY affects your user’s experience and your website’s bounce rate.

I’ll be comparing Kinsta’s Starter plan ($300/year) and GoDaddy’s Deluxe plan ($180/year). I prefer annual hosting plans, over month-to-month plans, as you get a substantial discount.

Both plans include a CDN and SSL certificate, which are enabled for this comparison.

In order to conduct this test, I cloned my existing Divi website (which is currently hosted with Kinsta) onto GoDaddy. Both sites have the exact same posts, pages, images, videos, plugins, edit history, etc.

GoDaddy vs Kinsta for Divi

To be as accurate as possible, I’ll be testing page speed using three separate providers (Google, Pingdom, and GTmetrix). The time is measured in seconds (s =  seconds).

Google PageSpeed Insights (DESKTOP):

Comparing ‘Speed Index’ which Google defines as “how quickly the contents of a page are visibly populated.”

- GoDaddy -

- Kinsta -

GTmetrix:

Comparing ‘Speed Index’ which GTmetrix also defines as “how quickly the contents of your page are visibly populated.”

- GoDaddy -

- Kinsta -

Pingdom:

Comparing ‘Load Time’ (just another phrasing for ‘Speed Index’) which Pingdom defines as “the elapsed time between a user submitting a URL and the entire page becoming available on the browser for the user to view.”

- GoDaddy -

- Kinsta -

My Thoughts:

If you’re looking for the best hosting option for your Divi website, Kinsta is a clear winner, they CRUSHED GoDaddy on every single test.

While you do have to pay more for Kinsta’s hosting, the uptake in page speed is well worth it. Additionally, Kinsta’s customer service team is night and day better than GoDaddy’s.
